My Healing Habit

First I want to mention I wrote this blog for my friend Pauline’s website which is @healinghabits.life go check it out

For me it is very important to view healing as a lifestyle and not only a response to being sick. There is a popular phrase that says as soon as you are born you start dying, but rather it seems that as soon as you are born you start healing. Our body is on a constant mission to return to homeostasis. The natural intelligence of the Universe flows through each one of us and knows exactly how to create health and order within the complexity of the body, we just have to get out of our own way to allow this intelligence to take over.

My main healing habit is meditation. When I meditate I take time to invest my attention into that Divine intelligence that organizes the whole Universe. I am practicing being in a regulated state so that it becomes more natural and automatic for my nervous system. Learning the particular technique of brain and heart coherence has been what’s worked the best for me. Learning how to open my heart, keeping my energy centers balanced, and working to clear blockages in my energetic pathways. It comes down to the skill of connecting to the Divine and then going through your day with the objective to maintain that connection; to stay aware of its presence. It is always with you. It has been called cosmic love or divine love. Rumi referred to it as The Beloved. Just learn to tune into it and it will take care of the rest.

There is germ theory and terrain theory. Terrain theory basically says that your system will only get sick if it is vulnerable and weak, and will not get sick if your body is in a state of balance and order. It is the condition of your internal terrain that determines whether a virus will compromise your body or not. A healthy body is not a good habitat for a germ to survive/thrive and an unhealthy body is.

Of course diet and physical exercise matter, but I personally believe the most dominant influence on our health is our ability to regulate our energy (thoughts and emotions). Our bodies are incredibly complex so if we have any deficiency, changing something in our diet for example might fix the deficiency, but then might externalize an imbalance to another part of the body. So if you do all the right things with diet and exercise yet still cannot regulate your emotions then your body will not be able to maintain function and order.   The complexity of the body can be intimidating so it’s beneficial to be able to trust in a greater power to create health.

The mind body connection is real and always in effect. So keeping your vibe elevated is important. Working to resolve unprocessed emotions that are frozen in the body. Learning how to commune with the aliveness of life is to go above and beyond. When you truly connect, your nervous system connects to energy and information that is very orderly and organized which then is reflected in your body as health. It gives all of your cells the instructions for wholeness.

Although meditation is my main practice, health requires an ecosystem of practices. A full and well rounded lifestyle that includes things like quality time in nature and strong interpersonal relationships.  I also acknowledge there are many different healing habits that work for different people. Learning about yourself and finding what specific lifestyle choices optimize health for your genetic makeup is important. You got this. We got this. Lets go it together.
